Subaru Exiga I (YA) gallery (2008–2018)
The 3-row 7-seater Subaru Exiga tourer/MPV was manufactured from 2008 to 2018 based on an expanded Legacy platform.
Produced from June 2008 to March 2018, the sole generation of the Subaru Exiga (YA series) was a 7-passenger tourer/MPV built on an enlarged Legacy floorpan. It featured 'theater-style' tiered seating elevation across three rows for enhanced passenger visibility. Powertrains included naturally aspirated 2.0L EJ20 and 2.5L EJ25 flat-fours alongside a turbocharged 2.0L EJ205 engine (225 hp). The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
Power went through automatics or Lineartronic CVTs paired with Symmetrical AWD. A 2012 facelift introduced refreshed front lighting and EyeSight technology. In 2015, it was updated into the crossover-styled Exiga Crossover7 featuring raised suspension and rugged body cladding before production ended in 2018. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
