Produced from November 2008 to late 2012, the single generation of the Subaru Dex (M401F/M411F code) was a badge-engineered twin of the boxy Daihatsu Materia (Coo) and second-generation Toyota bB. Featuring a tall, angular exterior layout with high seating positions, it was powered by a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder K3-VE petrol engine producing 92 hp. The MacPherson strut front suspension setup paired with the refined rear suspension layout struck an optimal balance between highway composure and smooth absorption of road surface imperfections. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike.
