SsangYong Kyron I gallery (2005–2015)
A mid-size frame-based SUV developed with British designer Ken Greenley and equipped with Mercedes-Benz components.
The SsangYong Kyron is built on a ladder-frame platform shared with the larger Rexton model. The vehicle features a striking avant-garde exterior design with distinctive headlight shapes and a unique rear pillar styling. The engine lineup included licensed 2.3-liter and 3.2-liter gasoline engines, as well as efficient 2.0-liter and 2.7-liter e-XDi turbo diesels. Transmissions included a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed 5G-Tronic automatic from Mercedes-Benz. The Part-Time or Torque-on-Demand four-wheel-drive system featured a low-range transfer case. In 2007, the model received a facelift affecting the front fascia, interior layout, and rear optics. The vehicle was assembled in South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, enjoying stable demand due to its off-road capabilities.
