SsangYong Actyon I (CJ) gallery (2005–2011)
The first-generation South Korean compact crossover features a distinctive avant-garde design, a ladder-frame chassis, and Mercedes-Benz-derived powertrains.
The first-generation SsangYong Actyon (internal code CJ), introduced in 2005, was built on a robust ladder-frame chassis typical of the brand's SUVs from that era. The vehicle featured an unconventional five-door sports-coupe-SUV body style with a sloping roofline and distinct rear styling. The engine lineup included a reliable 2.0-liter D20DT turbo-diesel producing 141-145 hp, alongside a licensed 2.3-liter gasoline engine. Transmissions included both manual gearboxes and dependable automatic transmissions paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system or rear-wheel drive. Throughout its production run, the car underwent minor cosmetic updates affecting the grille and interior trim. The model was marketed in South Korea, European and Asian countries, and Russia, gaining popularity due to its unique blend of off-road capabilities and affordable pricing.
