Scion xB I (XP30) gallery (2003–2007)

The first-generation Scion xB debuted in 2003 as a distinctive boxy subcompact wagon tailored specifically for younger buyers across the North American market. Mechanically based on the first-generation Japanese-market Toyota bB, the vehicle utilized Toyota's proven NBC front-wheel-drive platform (XP30). Power was supplied by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-four 1NZ-FE engine generating 108 horsepower, equipped with VVT-i technology. Buyers could choose between a standard five-speed manual transmission and an optional four-speed automatic gearbox. The interior was praised for its upright architecture, offering cavernous passenger and cargo space despite minimal overall vehicle length. Scion offered widespread personalization programs, including limited-production Release Series trims featuring unique paint shades and tuned suspensions. The vehicle was sold exclusively in the United States and Canada, enjoying strong commercial success until production concluded in 2007.
