The second generation Pontiac Montana SV6 was produced from 2005 to 2009 and featured a more rugged crossover-inspired body design resembling a crossover. The vehicle was based on the GM U platform and came equipped with 3.5-liter and 3.9-liter V6 gasoline engines paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Compared to its predecessor, the interior became more modern, sound insulation was improved, and new multimedia options for rear-seat passengers were introduced. A facelift affected the grille design and trim levels, but dropping demand for minivans and General Motors' overall financial troubles led to the discontinuation of the model and the elimination of the Pontiac brand itself. The main markets remained North American countries.
