Pontiac 6000 is a mid-size front-wheel-drive car built on the GM A platform, offered in sedan, coupe, and station wagon body styles.
Pontiac 6000 was based on the front-wheel-drive GM A-body platform shared with corporate siblings like the Buick Century and Chevrolet Celebrity. The engine lineup featured 2.5-liter four-cylinder motors, 2.8- and 3.1-liter V6 gasoline units, and a 4.3-liter V6 diesel, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. The vehicle received a notable facelift in 1989 featuring a revised aerodynamic rear window profile and cosmetic updates, while the coupe body style was dropped. A standout high-tech variant was the STE (Special Touring Edition), equipped with a digital instrument cluster and sport-tuned suspension. Marketed primarily in North America, it served as a core volume seller for the division until production concluded in 1991.
