The Oshan brand, known in Chinese as Oushang, was officially launched by Changan Automobile in 2018. The creation of Oshan was the result of a strategic overhaul and rebranding of Changan's commercial vehicle division, redirecting its manufacturing capability toward affordable consumer passenger vehicles tailored for younger demographics.

Oshan targeted the entry-level to mid-tier crossover and multi-purpose vehicle segments. The brand primarily catered to younger families and budget-conscious buyers in expanding urban regions seeking spacious passenger vehicles with eye-catching exterior styling, functional interiors, and modern entertainment features.

Key products that established Oshan's brand presence included the athletic X5 compact crossover and the larger X7 Plus family SUV. The brand later introduced the futuristic Z6 crossover, which offered an advanced plug-in hybrid iDD drivetrain option, as well as the spacious Cos1 MPV series designed for family transport.

Mechanically, Oshan vehicles relied on Changan's proven 1.5-liter turbocharged Blue Core gasoline engines coupled with dual-clutch transmissions, alongside iDD hybrid setups. Cabin technologies featured the proprietary OnStyle smart cockpit platform equipped with intuitive voice controls, facial recognition, and continuous over-the-air digital connectivity.

Oshan built a strong commercial reputation across China for offering value-packed, spacious utility vehicles. In 2024, parent company Changan Automobile initiated a strategic brand consolidation, progressively rebadging and absorbing Oshan models directly back into the core Changan product ecosystem.
