The Xpander I (NC0W) vehicle generation was manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors from 2017 to present and offered in MPV body configurations.
The Mitsubishi Xpander (NC0W platform designation) launched in Indonesia in August 2017. Combining crossover SUV styling with three-row 7-passenger MPV practicality, it featured elevated ground clearance up to 225 mm and Dynamic Shield front aesthetics. Engineering of the Xpander I (NC0W) (factory code NC0W) emphasized high structural rigidity, aerodynamic efficiency, and optimized interior spatial packaging. Built with reinforced body structures utilizing high-tensile steel alloys, the platform delivered reduced curb weight alongside improved occupant crash protection. The vehicle was distributed globally in multiple configuration packages designed to satisfy diverse market demands and regional regulatory specifications.
Power is provided by a 1.5-liter 4A91 naturally aspirated engine (105 hp) paired with manual, automatic, or CVT gearboxes. The Xpander HEV hybrid joined the range in 2024 with an e:Motion hybrid setup. A major facelift updated lighting and bumpers in 2021. The powertrain lineup incorporated efficient engine families paired with robust manual, automatic, or continuously variable transmissions depending on trim selection. Drivetrain engineering integrated advanced suspension tuning and traction management systems. Periodic mid-cycle cosmetic and technical updates refreshed front-end aesthetics, lighting technology, and cabin infotainment features, maintaining competitive positioning across international consumer segments throughout its production lifespan.
