The compact Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin (H60W and H70W platform codes) launched in 1998 as the Pajero iO in Japan, before entering European production in 1999 at the Pininfarina plant in Italy under the Pajero Pinin nameplate. Styled directly by Pininfarina, the vehicle was offered in three-door and five-door configurations, utilizing a unibody structure reinforced with an integrated ladder frame. Engineering of the Pajero Pinin I (H60W) (factory code H60W) emphasized high structural rigidity, aerodynamic efficiency, and optimized interior spatial packaging. Built with reinforced body structures utilizing high-tensile steel alloys, the platform delivered reduced curb weight alongside improved occupant crash protection.
