Sole generation of the subcompact MPV Mercedes-Benz Vaneo (W414), built on the sandwich-floor A-Class platform from 2001 to 2005.
The Mercedes-Benz Vaneo (chassis code W414) was introduced in late 2001 as a compact multi-purpose vehicle. Engineered on a stretched version of the W168 A-Class front-wheel-drive platform, it incorporated Mercedes' signature double-floor 'sandwich' safety architecture, resulting in a tall body with dual sliding rear doors.
The highly flexible interior offered up to seven seats with removable rear rows and a sliding luggage floor. Powertrain choices encompassed 1.6-liter and 1.9-liter gasoline engines alongside 1.7-liter CDI turbodiesels. Transmissions included 5-speed manual, automatic, or Automated Clutch System (AKS). Production ended in 2005 without a direct successor until the Citan's arrival.
