The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class (code H247) was revealed in December 2019 and launched for the 2020 model year on the upgraded MFA2 architecture. Transitioning from a lifted hatchback appearance to a true SUV silhouette, the H247 grew over 10 cm taller, yielding significantly improved headroom and rear legroom. The modern cockpit showcased the MBUX dual-screen infotainment setup with turbine-style air vents.

Under the hood, choices range from a 1.33-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (GLA 200) to 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel units, plus the GLA 250 e plug-in hybrid combining a 1.33L engine with an electric motor. Power is transmitted via 7-speed or 8-speed dual-clutch automatics to front or 4MATIC all-wheel drive. High-performance AMG variants comprise the 306-hp GLA 35 and the range-topping 421-hp GLA 45 S. A 2023 facelift added mild-hybrid technology across standard gasoline engines.
