Maybach S-Class II (Z223) photos

The second-generation Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, internally designated as Z223, debuted in late 2020 on the updated MRA II architecture. Expanding the wheelbase by 180 millimeters over the standard long-wheelbase W223 S-Class, the Z223 delivers supreme rear passenger legroom and comfort. The exterior is characterized by the bespoke Maybach radiator grille with fine vertical struts, a raised chrome fin along the hood center, brand emblems on the C-pillars, and optional hand-finished two-tone paint schemes. Technological innovations include electrically operated comfort rear doors operable via the MBUX infotainment system or rear blind-spot sensors, a Burmester 4D surround sound system with active road noise compensation, and rear-axle steering offering up to 10 degrees of lock. The flagship S 680 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 paired with 4MATIC all-wheel drive for the first time, while the S 580 uses a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 assisted by a 48-volt EQ Boost mild-hybrid system. A plug-in hybrid variant, the S 580 e, combines an inline-six engine with an electric drive motor. All powerplants are coupled with the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. The model continues to be targeted predominantly at high-end clientele in China, the United States, Europe, and the Gulf states.
