The first-generation Leapmotor S01 is a compact two-door electric coupe that marked the official launch of the Leapmotor brand, remaining in production from 2019 until 2021. Built on a proprietary small-car platform, the vehicle incorporates a front-motor and front-wheel-drive drivetrain layout inside a sleek 2+2 coupe body shell. Power is generated by Leapmotor's in-house Heracles integrated electric drive module, producing 125 kW (170 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, linked directly to a single-speed transmission. Energy is stored in lithium-ion battery packs offering capacities of 35.6 kWh for the 380 series and 48 kWh for the 460 series, delivering a maximum range of up to 451 km under NEDC rating conditions. Cabin technology was heavily emphasized, featuring sports bucket seats, dual digital displays, and an industry-first biometric security system termed Leap In, which uses finger-vein scanning and facial recognition for keyless entry and starting. Additional equipment includes Level 2 driver assistance capabilities under the Leap Pilot package, automatic parking assist, and cloud connectivity. The S01 was sold exclusively within the Chinese domestic market during its production lifecycle.
