The first-generation Leapmotor C16 is a full-size crossover SUV launched in 2024 as the brand's flagship family vehicle. Built on the LEAP 3.0 platform architecture, the C16 utilizes a long-wheelbase five-door SUV body with a three-row 2+2+2 interior seating arrangement. Vehicle options encompass both battery electric (BEV) and range-extended electric (EREV) powertrains. The BEV version features an 800-volt electrical system with a rear-mounted 215 kW (292 hp) motor and a 67.7 kWh LFP battery pack. The EREV variant pairs a 1.5-liter H15R gasoline generator engine with a 170 kW (231 hp) electric drive motor and a 28.4 kWh battery, offering over 1,000 km of combined driving range. Power in both versions is sent to the rear wheels via a single-speed reduction gear transmission. Interior luxury is highlighted by second-row captain's chairs with heating and power adjustment, a 14.6-inch central infotainment screen, and an overhead 15.6-inch entertainment display for rear passengers. Advanced equipment includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 cockpit chip, LiDAR sensor suite, tri-zone climate control, and a 21-speaker surround audio system. Production is centered in China with distribution across global markets.
