The Leapmotor A05 is an entry-level subcompact battery electric hatchback introduced in 2026 and exported to global markets under the Leapmotor B03 nameplate. Constructed on Leapmotor compact A-series architecture, the vehicle features a five-door hatchback body styled with clean surfaces, a closed front fascia, signature light bars, and available contrast roof color schemes. Unlike larger models in the lineup, the A05 utilizes a front-engine front-wheel-drive layout with a single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor generating between 90 hp and 121 hp. Energy is supplied by a lithium iron phosphate battery pack providing a driving range of up to 510 km on the CLTC cycle. Measuring 4200 mm in overall length with a 2605 mm wheelbase, the hatchback delivers agile maneuvering for daily commuting. A key highlight of the interior equipment is the introduction of premium driver-assist technology to the subcompact class, including an optional roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, binocular cameras, and side mirror optics. The digital cockpit houses a large central infotainment screen running the proprietary Leap OS software. Vehicle assembly is based at the main manufacturing complex in Jinhua, China, with European production slated to begin at the Stellantis plant in Figueruelas, Spain in 2027.
