Lancia Y10 I (Tipo 156) gallery (1985–1995)

The Lancia Y10 debuted at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show as a luxurious and avant-garde successor to the Autobianchi A112. Built on a shortened Fiat Uno platform, the model featured an exceptionally aerodynamic wedge-shaped profile with a drag coefficient of just 0.31, marked prominently by its vertical rear hatch finished in matte black. The Y10 introduced the revolutionary Fully Integrated Robotised Engine (FIRE) family in a 1.0-liter displacement, alongside high-performance variants such as the 1.05-liter Turbo and later 1.3-liter GTie. Transmission choices spanned a five-speed manual, an innovative Selectronic continuously variable transmission, and a specialized push-button engaged four-wheel-drive system engineered by Steyr-Puch. Significant facelifts in 1989 and 1992 revised the lighting, grille layout, interior instrumentation, and introduced multi-point fuel injection to meet stricter emissions standards. Distributed under the Autobianchi badge in Italy and France until late in its production run, it was marketed throughout the rest of Europe as a flagship compact under the Lancia brand.
