Debuting in production guise at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, the Lancia Thesis (Tipo 841) was developed as the ultimate Italian luxury flagship to succeed the Kappa. It utilized a bespoke executive platform equipped with an advanced multi-link front and rear suspension setup, featuring Sachs Skyhook electronic adaptive damping system. Produced exclusively as a full-size four-door saloon, the Thesis showcased an unmistakable neo-retro styling language with prominent diamond-shaped bi-xenon headlamps, a majestic grille, and slim vertical LED taillights. Under the hood, buyers could choose from inline-five petrol engines including the 2.0 20V Turbo and naturally aspirated 2.4 20V, alongside legendary Alfa Romeo Busso V6 units in 3.0 and 3.2-liter displacements producing up to 230 hp. Diesel options consisted of robust 2.4-liter JTD and Multijet five-cylinder powerplants. Transmissions included a six-speed manual and a five-speed Aisin Comfortronic automatic gearbox. The opulent interior featured open-pore wood, cast magnesium details, and premium Poltrona Frau leather upholstery. Marketed primarily across continental Europe, the Thesis also served as the official state limousine for Italian governmental authorities.
