Launched at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show after a nine-year hiatus, the third-generation Lancia Delta (Tipo 844) redefined the badge as an executive luxury hatchback with dramatic design flair. Conceived by the Centro Stile Lancia, it utilized a long-wheelbase variant of the Fiat Group C-Platform shared with the Fiat Bravo, stretching the wheelbase to 2,700 mm to deliver exceptional rear passenger legroom and sliding rear seats. The engine lineup was entirely turbocharged, offering 1.4 T-Jet and MultiAir petrol engines, a flagship 1.75-liter TBi with 200 horsepower, dual-fuel LPG options, and efficient MultiJet diesels displacing 1.6, 1.9 (Twin Turbo 190 hp), and 2.0 liters. Power was sent to the front wheels via six-speed manual, robotic dual-clutch, or Aisin six-speed torque-converter automatic transmissions. Advanced tech included an electronically controlled Synchronic Reactive Suspension and Absolute Handling System. Following a 2011 styling update featuring a horizontal grille, the model was also cross-badged and sold as the Chrysler Delta in the United Kingdom and Ireland until production concluded in 2014.
