A compact three-door SUV with a striking and futuristic design, built on the Trooper frame platform.
The unique Isuzu VehiCross SUV debuted in production form in 1997 following a successful concept car reveal. The vehicle was built on a shortened frame platform derived from the Trooper and featured the proprietary Torque on Demand (TOD) electronically managed four-wheel-drive system. The powertrain lineup included 3.2-liter and 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engines paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car stood out with its aggressive plastic body cladding all around, Recaro sport seats, and shock absorbers with external reservoirs. The primary markets were Japan and North America, with production ending in 2001 due to the niche nature of the model.
