The first-generation Hyundai Tiburon (RC/RD) sports coupe was manufactured from 1996 to 2001, engineered with Porsche suspension tuning.

The first-generation Hyundai Tiburon (RC/RD chassis, badged as Hyundai Coupe in Europe) debuted in 1996 based on the Elantra J2 platform. Derived from the HCD-II Coupe concept car, it featured swooping side body lines. Notably, the chassis suspension components were fine-tuned in collaboration with Porsche engineering consultants.

Engine offerings included 1.6-liter Alpha, 1.8-liter Beta, and 2.0-liter Beta 16-valve DOHC engines producing up to 140 horsepower. Transmissions were a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic. A major 1999 facelift (RD2) replaced the front end with a striking quad-headlamp arrangement and dual hood bulges.
