The second-generation Hyundai Tiburon (GK chassis, badged Tuscani in Korea and Coupe in Europe) debuted in late 2001. Featuring a bolder, muscular profile with side fender gills and dual exhaust outlets, the GK offered standard sport bucket seats and center console auxiliary gauges.

Under the hood, the line offered a 2.0-liter Beta II four-cylinder (143 hp) and a range-topping 2.7-liter Delta V6 (172 hp) paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox in the GT trim. Transmissions also included 5-speed manuals and 4-speed automatics. Facelifts in 2004 (FL/1) and 2007 (FL/2) revised headlamp clusters and front air intakes.
