Hyundai Equus I (LZ) gallery (1999–2009)
The first-generation Hyundai Equus (LZ) flagship executive sedan was produced from 1999 to 2009, co-developed with Mitsubishi.
The first-generation Hyundai Equus (LZ chassis, badged as Centennial in export markets) debuted in 1999 as Hyundai's premier flagship luxury sedan. Jointly developed with Mitsubishi Motors (which sold it as the Proudia and Dignity), the Equus targeted high-ranking executives and government officials. Body configurations included a standard wheelbase sedan and an extended Equus Limousine (YJ chassis).
Engine selections comprised a 3.5-liter Sigma V6 (210 hp) and Mitsubishi-designed 4.5-liter Omega GDI V8 (270 hp), later replaced by Hyundai's own 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter Lambda V6 engines. Standard equipment featured electronically controlled air suspension, reclining rear massager seats, and a rear compartment refrigerator.
