The I (RD) generation of the Hyundai Coupe was manufactured between 1996 and 2001. The Hyundai Coupe (RD chassis, badged Tiburon in North America) was produced from 1996 to 2001.
Featuring body styling inspired by the HCD-II concept and suspension fine-tuned with Porsche, it offered 1.6L and 2.0L Beta engines. A 1999 facelift (RD2) brought quad headlights. Throughout its production run, the I (RD) established a strong reputation for powertrain efficiency, passenger comfort, and structural reliability.
