About this generation
The sixth-generation Honda Prelude returns as an electrified hybrid coupe incorporating high-performance chassis hardware from the Civic Type R.
The sixth-generation Honda Prelude marks the return of the nameplate after a 25-year hiatus, arriving as an electrified front-wheel-drive sports coupe. Built upon Honda's modern compact architecture, the vehicle uses an e:HEV hybrid powertrain calibrated with bespoke S+ Shift software designed to simulate an eight-speed automatic transmission, offering rev-matching downshifts and cornering gear-holding functionality.
Under the bodywork, the sixth generation integrates specialized chassis components sourced directly from the Civic Type R. Key engineering highlights include adaptive dampers, widened front and rear track widths, dual-pinion electronic power steering, and enlarged Brembo front brake calipers. Unlike the preceding fifth-generation Prelude that relied on naturally aspirated H-series petrol engines and manual gearboxes, the new generation is offered strictly as a hybrid without a manual transmission option.
