The first and only generation of Holden's subcompact crossover SUV based on the GM Gamma II architecture.
The Holden Trax (TJ series) subcompact crossover SUV was introduced to the Australian and New Zealand automotive markets in 2013 as a rebadged version of the global Chevrolet Trax and Opel Mokka. Built on General Motors' global Gamma II (G2SC) architecture, the unibody Trax featured MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear setup. At launch, the powertrain lineup consisted of a naturally aspirated 1.8-litre Family 1 four-cylinder petrol engine producing 103 kW (138 hp), paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 1.4-litre turbocharged Family 0 petrol engine paired exclusively with a 6-speed automatic was added shortly after. In early 2017, the Trax received a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh featuring completely redesigned front styling, modern headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, a revised dual-port grille, and an overhauled dashboard with a 7-inch MyLink infotainment screen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike some global versions, the Australian model was sold exclusively with front-wheel drive. Sales continued until 2020, when the Holden brand was officially retired by General Motors.
