A rugged mid-size body-on-frame seven-seat SUV based on the Colorado platform that succeeded the Colorado 7.
The Holden Trailblazer (RG series) was introduced in late 2016 for the Australian and New Zealand markets, serving as the heavily upgraded facelift and renaming of the earlier Holden Colorado 7. Based on General Motors' GMT 31XX mid-size truck platform shared with the Holden Colorado utility, the Trailblazer retained rugged body-on-frame construction while utilizing a coil-sprung multi-link live rear axle for enhanced passenger comfort. It was powered exclusively by a 2.8-litre Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel engine generating 147 kW (197 hp) and 500 Nm of torque, matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a selectable part-time four-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing. Compared to the Colorado 7, the Trailblazer introduced an entirely redesigned front fascia, significantly improved cabin acoustic insulation, a modern dashboard layout with an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen supporting smartphone integration, electric power steering tuned specifically by Australian engineers, and advanced safety features such as forward collision alert and blind-spot monitoring. Built in Rayong, Thailand, the Trailblazer remained on sale until the Holden marque was dissolved in 2020.
