First generation of the FAW JoyEE S04 all-electric compact crossover.
The first generation of the FAW JoyEE S04 debuted as an all-new dedicated battery electric vehicle. Built on a front-wheel-drive EV architecture with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, the compact crossover features a MacPherson strut front suspension paired with a torsion beam rear axle setup. The body incorporates zinc-plated anti-corrosion panels and extensive plastic underbody shielding designed to protect the battery and drive units from debris and harsh weather conditions.
Propulsion is provided by a single permanent-magnet electric motor positioned on the front axle, delivering 169 hp (125 kW) and 225 Nm of torque. It is powered by a 62.87 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack supporting DC fast charging, which allows a driving range of up to 565 km on the CLTC test cycle. Cargo capacity ranges from 415 liters in standard configuration up to 1,601 liters with the rear seats folded.
The initial generation comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist, alongside a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, ventilated front seats, 360-degree cameras with transparent chassis view, and an electric tailgate.
