Daihatsu Tanto IV (LA650) gallery (2026–present)

The fourth-generation Daihatsu Tanto is engineered on the DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) modular platform. Adopting this architecture yielded a considerably stiffer monocoque, reduced curb weight, and enhanced chassis dynamics compared to earlier iterations. It carries forward the five-door high-roof microvan body style, retaining the signature Miracle Open Door setup that eliminates the structural B-pillar on the front passenger side to deliver exceptional ease of access.

Under the hood, the microvan is powered by a 660 cc three-cylinder KF-series petrol engine. It is offered in naturally aspirated form producing 52 horsepower, as well as an intercooled turbocharged variant rated at 64 horsepower. Both engine configurations are exclusively coupled to a continuously variable transmission (D-CVT), with drivetrains available in either front-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive.

Key advancements over the third generation include the deployment of the updated Smart Assist active safety suite with widened pedestrian and cyclist emergency braking capabilities. Interior ergonomics were also refined with revised seat sliding mechanisms, upgraded infotainment integration, improved noise suppression, and dedicated styling trims such as the rugged FunCross and bespoke exterior packages.
