The first generation of the Daewoo Tacuma compact MPV was developed based on the Nubira platform and debuted on the European market in 2000. The vehicle featured a bright and unusual body design created with the participation of the famous Pininfarina studio, which made it stand out among conservative competitors. The spacious five-seat interior offered numerous transformation options, folding tables in the seatbacks, and an abundance of storage compartments, making the model an excellent choice for families. The powertrain lineup consisted of 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0-liter gasoline engines paired with a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission, and factory LPG modifications were offered in certain markets. The suspension was tuned for comfortable travel over various road surfaces, ensuring a smooth ride. During production, the model underwent several minor updates affecting interior trim, available options, and engine emission standards. In various global markets, the car was also sold under the names Chevrolet Rezzo and KLAU. Production of the model in South Korea and other countries continued until 2008, after which it was finally succeeded by newer global crossovers and hatchbacks from the GM alliance.
