Daewoo Nexia I (KLETN) gallery (1995–2016)
A popular small front-wheel-drive car created on the basis of the Opel Kadett E model.
Daewoo Nexia is a deep modernization of the German Opel Kadett E car produced under license. The first generation appeared in 1995 and was produced with sedan, as well as three- and five-door hatchback bodies, although the latter did not become widespread. The model was equipped with 1.5-liter petrol engines with both 8-valve and 16-valve timing mechanisms combined with a five-speed manual gearbox. The main markets for the car were the countries of Eastern Europe, the CIS, and Uzbekistan, where assembly was established at the UzDaewoo joint venture. During its production, the car underwent two major restyling operations: in 2002 and in 2008 (index N150), when the lighting engineering, bumpers, radiator grille, and interior were completely updated. The car was valued for its spacious trunk, affordable cost, unpretentious suspension, adaptability to poor road conditions, and maintainability. Production ended in 2016 after the plant was completely retooled to produce modern models under the Ravon brand.
