The second-generation SsangYong Korando SUV was sold under the Daewoo brand from 1999 to 2001 following the acquisition of a controlling stake by the South Korean manufacturer. The vehicle featured a distinctive exterior design created by British stylist Ken Greenley, characterized by prominent round headlights and a vertical-bar grille. The body-on-frame architecture utilized a rigid three-door configuration. The engine lineup included 2.3-liter and 3.2-liter gasoline engines, alongside licensed Mercedes-Benz diesel powerplants ranging in displacement. Transmission choices consisted of manual and automatic gearboxes paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system. The interior featured a symmetrical dashboard layout originally engineered to accommodate both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations seamlessly. In South Korean and select export markets, the model earned a reputation for rugged durability and solid off-road capability.
