The first generation of the Daewoo Damas subcompact commercial vehicle has been produced in South Korea and other countries from 1991 to the present day. This model is a licensed and adapted version of the Suzuki Carry microvan and features very modest dimensions, allowing for easy maneuvering in narrow city blocks and dense traffic. The car is offered as a passenger minivan and an all-metal cargo van, making it a popular choice for small businesses, courier services, and retail delivery. The powertrain uses a small-displacement 0.8-liter three-cylinder engine paired with a manual transmission, and several versions feature liquefied petroleum gas systems to reduce operating costs. Over its long production run, the car has undergone several restylings, which updated the lighting, grille, dashboard, and safety features to comply with evolving regulations. The model is also known in some markets under the Labo brand for the truck version and Damas II after a major update in the 2000s. Despite its advanced age, the vehicle still enjoys steady demand due to its exceptional simplicity, maintainability, and low cost of ownership.
