Changan Joice I gallery (2007–2009)
The Changan Joice MPV offered a spacious single-box body design and pioneered domestic Chinese automotive engineering as its first mass-produced hybrid vehicle.
The mid-size Changan Joice minivan (also known as Changan Jiexun) was produced between 2007 and 2009. Constructed on a front-wheel-drive unibody platform, the suspension features MacPherson front struts and a trailing-arm rear setup. The single-box body geometry spans 4.5 meters in length and 1.67 meters in height, providing a spacious 7-passenger interior across three seating rows. Primary power came from a 2.0-liter CA20 naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 152 horsepower and 192 Nm of torque. The powertrain was mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. In 2008, Changan launched the Jiexun HEV, celebrated as China first domestically developed mass-production hybrid vehicle, pairing the gasoline engine with an electric starter-generator to improve fuel efficiency by 20 percent. Interior amenities featured dual-zone climate control, modular folding seats, dual front airbags, and a basic audio unit. The Joice was sold primarily in domestic Chinese markets with select Asian exports.
