The classic full-size rear-wheel-drive Cadillac Brougham luxury sedan was manufactured as a standalone model series from 1987 through 1992. The model represented a key landmark of its era within the Cadillac lineup.
The Cadillac Brougham was produced as an independent model line from 1987 through 1992 on General Motors' traditional full-size rear-wheel-drive D-body frame. The model designation originated when Cadillac renamed the rear-wheel-drive Fleetwood Brougham to distinguish it from the newer front-wheel-drive Fleetwood line. It retained classic Cadillac design cues, including upright body proportions, a prominent chrome radiator grille, and a vinyl roof cover. A 1990 facelift introduced flush composite headlamps and revised lower body cladding moldings.
Engine offerings included a 5.0-liter Oldsmobile 307 cubic-inch V8 (140 hp), complemented starting in 1990 by a 5.7-liter Chevrolet 350 cubic-inch fuel-injected V8 delivering 175 to 185 horsepower. Power passed through a four-speed automatic transmission (THM200-4R / 4L60). The opulent d'Elegance package featured plush pillow seating, automatic level control, digital climate control, and ABS braking.
