BYD Song I gallery (2015–2022)
First introduced in 2015, the original BYD Song compact crossover established the cornerstone of BYD's highly successful and extensive Song SUV model line.
Launched in late 2015, the first-generation BYD Song was developed as a compact crossover SUV initially derived from the earlier S3 concept. Built on a front-wheel-drive unibody platform, the vehicle incorporates MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear suspension setup. Its five-door body styled with an optional two-tone floating roof and prominent side character lines offered a spacious cabin for five passengers. The ICE lineup consisted of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine generating 154 horsepower and a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 205 horsepower, coupled with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The dual-mode plug-in hybrid Song DM combined the gasoline engine with two electric motors for an all-wheel-drive layout with a total output of 453 horsepower, while the fully electric Song EV300 and EV400 offered up to 218 horsepower and battery capacities up to 62 kilowatt-hours. A major facelift in 2018 integrated the Dragon Face design front fascia and a rotating central infotainment touchscreen. Sold alongside newer Song Pro variants as the Song Classic, production continued until 2022, with exports reaching overseas markets including Egypt under the BYD S5 nameplate.
