The BYD Song Max compact family MPV launched in 2017 serving as the debut vehicle for the brand's signature Dragon Face design language offering 6 and 7 seat options.
The first-generation BYD Song Max compact MPV entered production in 2017 as the pioneer model designed under chief designer Wolfgang Egger featuring the Dragon Face styling. Built on a front-wheel-drive platform, the vehicle offers both six-seat and seven-seat cabin layouts. Initially powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 154 horsepower mated to a six-speed manual or dual-clutch transmission, pure petrol variants were discontinued in 2022. The lineup transitioned to plug-in hybrids like the Song Max DM and DM-i utilizing a 1.5-liter engine with electric drive, alongside pure electric variants. The DM-i hybrid achieves a fuel consumption rate of 4.4 liters per 100 kilometers with an electric range up to 105 kilometers. Interior features include a signature rotating DiLink touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, and dedicated rear climate controls. In Asian export markets, the MPV is also sold as the BYD M6 and eMax 7.
