The BYD Shark 6 body-on-frame plug-in hybrid pickup truck premiered in early 2024 targeting global utility vehicle markets on the specialized DMO platform.
The first-generation BYD Shark 6 mid-size plug-in hybrid pickup truck officially debuted in May 2024 in Mexico. Engineered on BYD's specialized DMO Super Hybrid body-on-frame platform, it features a heavy-duty chassis with independent front and rear suspension. The powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with twin electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles, developing a total output of 435 horsepower via an electric four-wheel-drive system. A 29.6 kWh Blade LFP battery provides an electric-only range of up to 100 kilometers, contributing to an overall driving range of 840 kilometers. Payload capacity is rated at 835 kilograms with a towing capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes. The interior comes with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, 10.25-inch instrument display, head-up display, and V2L power export functionality. The Shark 6 is distributed in Mexico, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, and the Middle East.
