The BYD Sealion 05 compact crossover joined the Sealion family in 2024 offering customers highly efficient hybrid and fully electric drivetrain options.
The first-generation BYD Sealion 05 compact crossover SUV arrived in 2024, expanding the Ocean Series SUV lineup. Built on a modular platform, the vehicle is offered in Sealion 05 DM-i plug-in hybrid and Sealion 05 EV battery-electric configurations. The hybrid edition incorporates fifth-generation DM-i technology paired with a 1.5-liter petrol engine and electric motor setup, delivering fuel consumption below 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The electric model utilizes a Blade LFP battery with fast-charging capabilities. The exterior reflects marine-inspired styling cues featuring a distinctive front grille and full-LED lighting. Inside, the cabin provides ergonomic seating, a digital instrument panel, a rotating DiLink infotainment touchscreen, smart connectivity, and a panoramic sunroof. In Southeast Asian and Australian export markets, the crossover is marketed under the Sealion 5 DM-i moniker.
