The first-generation BYD Seal 05 compact plug-in hybrid sedan debuted in 2025 as the direct successor to the Destroyer 05 within the Ocean Series. Built on a front-wheel-drive hybrid platform, it houses BYD's fifth-generation DM-i powertrain. The system integrates a 1.5-liter Atkinson-cycle naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 101 horsepower alongside a traction electric motor generating either 163 or 218 horsepower. Its Blade LFP battery delivers an all-electric range between 55 and 120 kilometers, contributing to a combined driving range exceeding 2000 kilometers under CLTC testing. The styling incorporates Ocean Aesthetics design cues with slim LED headlights and a fastback profile. Interior amenities feature a digital instrument display, a rotating DiLink touchscreen, NFC smart key access, and the DiPilot driver-assistance suite. In export markets, the vehicle is distributed under the Seal 5 DM-i and BYD King model names.
