The BYD Racco electric kei microvan debuted in Japan in 2026 as the first foreign-built light electric vehicle featuring sliding rear doors and Blade Battery technology.
The BYD Racco electric kei car microvan debuted in July 2026, specifically engineered to comply with Japanese light vehicle regulations. Featuring a tall, boxy five-door microvan body style with dual rear sliding doors, the vehicle maximizes interior space within strict dimensions of 3395 mm length, 1475 mm width, and 1800 mm height. Built on a dedicated compact EV platform with a front-motor front-wheel-drive layout, power is supplied by a 47 kW (64 hp) electric motor. Energy is stored in BYD Blade LFP battery packs with options of 22.4 kWh or 35.84 kWh, delivering a WLTC driving range between 210 km and 320 km. The vehicle supports 49 kW DC fast charging as well as standard AC home charging. The cabin includes a digital dashboard, BYD signature rotating touchscreen running the DiLink software, sliding rear bench seats, and smart connectivity. Designed to compete against domestic Japanese EV kei cars, the Racco serves urban commuters and delivery fleets.
