Launched in 2022, the BYD Frigate 07 is a flagship mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV featuring BYD's advanced DM-i and DM-p powertrain technology within the Ocean Series.
Introduced in December 2022, the BYD Frigate 07 (also translated as Corvette 07 or Huweijian 07) debuted as the flagship plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV of BYD's Ocean Series Warship lineup. Sharing platform dimensions with the Tang SUV, the 4.82-meter five-door crossover features marine-inspired aesthetics including a wide ripple grille, flush pop-out door handles, and a full-width LED rear light bar. Power originates from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 139 horsepower combined with electric drive units. The front-wheel-drive DM-i variant utilizes a 197-horsepower electric motor optimized for efficiency, while the performance DM-p version adds a 204-horsepower rear electric motor for all-wheel drive, producing a total of 401 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Blade LFP batteries ranging from 18.3 to 36.8 kWh allow pure electric driving ranges between 100 and 205 kilometers. Cabin amenities include a rotatable 15.6-inch DiLink central touchscreen, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, Frequency Selective Damping suspension, and the DiPilot driver assistance suite. Produced in Xi'an, the Frigate 07 is marketed in China and select overseas markets.
