The first generation of the BYD Atto 8 made its public premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026 as the brand's flagship three-row electric SUV, scheduled for European showroom arrival in the first quarter of 2027. Measuring 198.4 inches in length, 78.6 inches in width, and 69.3 inches in height, the seven-seat crossover provides generous cabin space complemented by a 25.7-square-foot panoramic glass roof and a central 15.6-inch touchscreen. It is built around a second-generation Blade battery pack with a capacity of 115 kWh and debuts BYD's Flash Charging system supporting charging rates up to 1,500 kW, which replenishes the battery from 10 to 97 percent in just nine minutes under optimal conditions.

The lineup comprises two distinct mechanical variants. The standard rear-wheel-drive Design trim features a single electric motor delivering 455 horsepower, sprint capability from zero to 62 mph in 5.8 seconds, and a WLTP-rated range of 405 miles. The premium Excellence variant incorporates an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup producing a combined 764 horsepower and 571 lb-ft of torque, reducing the 0-62 mph acceleration time to 4.6 seconds while offering a range of 374 miles. As a brand-new nameplate, the Atto 8 establishes a new benchmark for charging speed and interior volume in BYD's lineup.
