The second-generation Mulsanne was unveiled in 2009 at Pebble Beach and entered production in 2010 as Bentley's first bespoke flagship platform in over 80 years, completely independent of Rolls-Royce or Volkswagen shared chassis. It featured a comprehensively re-engineered 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged L-series V8 with cylinder deactivation and variable valve timing, producing 512 horsepower through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. In 2014, the Mulsanne Speed raised output to 537 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque. A significant facelift in 2016 introduced a wider stainless steel grille, updated chassis electronics, and an Extended Wheelbase (EWB) model offering exceptional rear-seat legroom. Production concluded in 2020 with the exclusive 6.75 Edition by Mulliner, marking the end of both the Mulsanne lineage and the iconic 6.75-liter V8 engine family.
