The second-generation Bentley Azure was previewed as the Arnage Drophead Coupe concept in 2005 before entering production for the 2006 model year. Unlike the original car, the second-generation model was built on the thoroughly upgraded Arnage architecture, utilizing advanced high-strength steel bracing to deliver class-leading torsional rigidity for a massive convertible. Propulsion was provided by the 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which initially produced 456 hp and was later tuned to 507 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque in the flagship Azure T introduced in 2009. While early units utilized a 4-speed automatic, the model quickly transitioned to a modern ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox, transforming throttle response and high-speed cruising refinement. The three-layer canvas roof folded hydraulically under a flush tonneau cover in just 25 seconds. Produced in strictly limited numbers with completely hand-finished bespoke interiors, the Azure second generation remained the quintessential open-air grand tourer for ultra-high-net-worth customers until production concluded in 2009.
