The first-generation BAIC Taitan 700 debuted in August 2026 at the Chengdu Motor Show, succeeding the BAIC BJ60 as the brand's flagship off-roader. The full-size five-door SUV measures 5,040 mm in length with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Its exterior styling is characterized by a bold three-section radiator grille, two-tone paint options, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The chassis is engineered around a robust ladder frame with fully independent suspension on both axles. To enhance ride comfort and off-road capability beyond its predecessor, the vehicle features an adaptive air suspension with adjustable ride height and firmness, along with an all-wheel-drive system equipped with three mechanical differential locks.
The powertrain is configured as a range-extender hybrid, utilizing a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine serving exclusively as a generator to charge the battery pack, paired with two electric traction motors. The combined output reaches 532 hp, enabling a comprehensive range of over 1,300 km. Inside, the cabin features a digital instrument cluster, a passenger touchscreen, a ceiling-mounted rear entertainment display, and autonomous driving assistance systems.
