Unveiled in 2010, the first-generation Audi A1 (chassis code 8X) represented Audi's entry into the premium supermini market. Utilizing the Volkswagen Group PQ25 platform, the compact hatchback featured striking design cues such as contrasting roof arches, a bold Singleframe grille, and interior materials matching executive class standards. Initially launched as a stylish three-door hatchback, the lineup expanded in 2012 with the addition of the more accessible five-door Sportback variant.

Under the hood, the A1 offered turbocharged TFSI gasoline engines ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 liters alongside frugal TDI diesel options. Premium technology included the fast-shifting seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, MMI infotainment, and optional Bose surround sound. The 8X generation successfully redefined urban mobility by proving that luxury and technology could thrive in a compact footprint, selling over 900,000 units until production ended in 2018.
