The Acura RSX (DC5) sport coupe was produced from 2001 to 2006 as the North American successor to the Integra.
Introduced in 2001 for the 2002 model year, the Acura RSX (DC5 chassis) succeeded the Integra line in North America. Built on a new high-rigidity unibody architecture featuring MacPherson strut front and double-wishbone rear suspension setups, the 3-door liftback coupe served as a technological showcase for Honda's new K-series engines with i-VTEC variable valve timing. Engineering priorities for this generation focused on structural rigidity, chassis refinement, and elevating active safety capabilities.
The base RSX featured a 2.0-liter K20A3 engine producing 160 horsepower paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. The performance RSX Type-S boasted a high-revving 2.0-liter K20A2 engine producing 200 horsepower (upgraded to a 210 hp K20Z1 for 2005) coupled exclusively to a 6-speed manual. A 2005 mid-cycle refresh added restyled headlight and taillight housings, body-colored side skirts, a lower ride height, and retuned steering calibration. A comprehensive list of standard features combined with proven powertrain durability helped secure a strong market presence in its segment.
