The second-generation Acura NSX (chassis code NC1) entered production in 2016 after debuting at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. Built around a spaceframe structure of aluminum and high-strength steel with a carbon-fiber floorpan, the NC1 showcased Acura's innovative Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain. The front axle incorporates a Twin Motor Unit (TMU) offering independent torque vectoring, while a third electric motor assists the internal combustion engine. Engineering priorities for this generation focused on structural rigidity, chassis refinement, and elevating active safety capabilities.

The hybrid system pairs a mid-mounted 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (JNC1) with the electric motors to produce a combined output of 573 horsepower, delivered through a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission. Suspensions feature magnetic ride dampers. Production culminated in 2022 with the limited-run Type S variant, which boasted optimized turbochargers, enhanced thermal management, a retuned 9DCT, and a boosted total system output of 600 horsepower. A comprehensive list of standard features combined with proven powertrain durability helped secure a strong market presence in its segment.
