The XC90 influenced the 2017 Volvo S90's Style
The coming-soon restyled 2017 Volvo S90 will have a serious influence of the latest 2016 XC90 SUV.
Speaking about the design, the new S90 will have the Thor’s Hammer headlamps. They were first used on the XC90. Vertical slats and a chrome radiator enclosure also came from the model. The S90 will replace the S80 in the automaker’s vehicle range. It also will be launched as a sedan before the start-up of the V90, a wagon variant. The V90’s launch is expected sometime later through the vehicle’s life.
Identical to the XC90 powerplants will be used in the new model. Therefore, customers will receive 2.0-litre V4 turbocharged and supercharged engine generating 316 hp and torque of 295 lb-ft. The engine will be connected to an 8-speed automatic gear box. Customer can also obtain the upgraded engine with a plug-in hybrid system. It uses the identical 2.0-litre V4 together with a 60-hp electric motor. If combined, they will generate 400 hp. The vehicle is expected to have a completely electric driving range of nearly 20 miles.
A completely new interior of the S90 is also influenced by the XC90. It features a large tablet-like touchscreen in the centre console.
The new model is going to be officially presented at the 2016 Auto Show in Detroit.
